The 1994 Mazda Miata received the NA generation's biggest mechanical update: a 1.8-liter four rated at 128 horsepower and 110 lb-ft replaced the 1.6, additional chassis bracing stiffened the structure, and an optional Torsen limited-slip differential replaced the earlier viscous unit. Dual airbags became standard, and the track-oriented R package arrived with Bilstein dampers and firmer springs. The first annual M Edition appeared in Montego Blue Mica.
