The 2006 Mazda Miata launched the NC, the first clean-sheet redesign in the roadster's history, on a new platform with a 2.0-liter MZR four rated at 170 horsepower and 140 lb-ft. A 6-speed manual became available above the standard 5-speed, dimensions grew in every direction, and curb weight stayed under 2,500 pounds. A 3rd Generation Limited launch edition marked the debut year.
