1975-76 Ford Torino/Elite/Thunderbird & Cougar A/C-Heater Wiring Diagram
Manual A/C-heater electrical system wiring diagram for 1975-76 Montego, Cougar, Torino, Elite and Thunderbird showing blower motor, 35A circuit breaker, blower resistor, A/C clutch, ambient cut-off switch and blower switch with wire colors.
This is a scanned page (section 36-45-9) from a Ford factory shop manual showing FIG. 7, the Manual A/C-Heater Electrical System Wiring Diagram for the Mercury Montego and Cougar, Ford Torino, Elite, and Thunderbird. The schematic traces the heater/air-conditioning electrical circuit from the battery through the ignition switch and a 35-amp circuit breaker to the blower motor, blower resistor assembly (terminals LO, M1, M2, H with resistors R1-R3), blower switch (LOW/BAT, MEDIUM-1, MEDIUM-2, HIGH positions), A/C clutch assembly, and 40° ambient cut-off switch. Wire color codes are called out throughout, including Black, Orange, Black-Lt. Green Dot, Lt. Green-White Hash Mark, Red-Orange Hash Mark, Lt. Green-Purple Hash Mark, Yellow-Red Dot, and Black-Yellow Hash Mark, with model-specific notes (Brown-Yellow Stripe for T-Bird versus Orange Stripe for Cougar, Torino, Elite, and Montego). The main diagram depicts the 1975 configuration ("1975 SHOWN"), while separate pinout drawings at the bottom show the 1976 blower motor switch connector and 1976 A/C control switch connector with their wire colors. Diagram reference number L1644-D appears at lower right. A reader can use this page to trace blower and A/C clutch circuits and identify connector terminals and wire colors on these mid-1970s Ford/Mercury vehicles.
This document covers 1975-1976, which may differ from this 1979 Ford Ranchero.
