Rather than build a new tailgate sill plate to cover up the thicker BedRug, I experimented on a scrap, shaving the bottom so as to preserve the uniformly carpeted top layer, and made it work reasonably well with the original sill plate. I may go back and shave it a touch more to take some pressure off the plastic sill plate.
