1975 Bricklin SV-1 Chop Cut Rebuild Display Board - History & Sponsors

This is a photograph of a display board (show placard) for a 1975 Bricklin SV-1 restoration project featured on the television show 'Chop Cut Rebuild with Dan Woods.' The board includes 'before' photos of the derelict red Bricklin on a trailer and its engine bay, plus 'rebuild' photos showing shop work, welding, a Canadian maple leaf paint design, and an orange hood. The main text gives a history of the Bricklin SV-1: the only North American-built gull-wing car, manufactured from Detroit parts from 1974 through early 1976 in New Brunswick, Canada, sold exclusively in the United States. Over 5,000 were sold but only 2,854 built before bankruptcy. SV-1 stands for Safety Vehicle 1, featuring a built-in roll cage, side guardrails, and 5-mph shock-absorbing bumpers. The color-impregnated acrylic body bonded to fiberglass panels meant cars were delivered without paint; standard colors included Safety Red, Orange, Green, Suntan, and White. In 2004 Canada Post issued a commemorative stamp and the Canadian mint a $20 silver coin. An estimated 1,500 operating Bricklins survive.
