Ford Model T Roadster & Touring Top Working Drawings – Bow Dimensions

This is page 155 of a vintage automotive reference book showing two dimensioned working drawings for Ford tops: a 'Working Drawing of Roadster Top' and a 'Working Drawing of Touring Top.' Each drawing includes a plan (top-down) view and side elevation views with extensive fractional-inch measurements for the top bows, sockets, and body attachment points — for example, the roadster drawing shows dimensions such as 27", 22 1/4", 32" bow height, and 23 7/16" to bottom of body, while the touring top drawing shows an overall 87 1/4" length, 22" and 17 7/8" heights, and 23 3/4" to bottom of body. Dimensions marked with a circled symbol are noted as taken on line "A"–"A". The accompanying text explains that when repairing or recovering a Ford top, it is usually easier to remove the top from the car and mount it on boxes about a foot above the floor so the bows are at a convenient height for stretching and tacking the fabric; otherwise ladders or scaffolds are needed. It also advises that after removing old fabric, the upright bow of the roadster top should be lined up truly vertical. A restorer can use these drawings to rebuild or verify original bow geometry for Ford roadster and touring tops.
