Here is where the charcoal canister was mounted from Ford. It turns out the threaded hole that mounts the canister is in a metal plate under the battery tray, which is very solid. There are two pre-drilled holes, to the left of the threaded one, which continue through behind the plastic splash shield, by the right front tire. They happened to be the same width as the aux filter base....
