This document page provides troubleshooting hints for vehicle instrument cluster conditions and possible causes.
60-9 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (continued) o inoperative Voltmeter CONDITION POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION 0 Indicates low voltage/no volt- 0 Battery voltage low Service battery and/or charging system as required age 0 Wiring and/or connectors Check wiring for breaks. Check connectors for tightness and . Printed circuit corrosion (battery feed and ground circuits). . Blown fuse Check for cracks/breaks in printed Circun . Service circuit short and replace fuse I lnoperative Voltmeter Replace Voltmeter 0 indicates high voltage 0 Battery voltage high Service charging system as required Replace Voltmeter 0 Engine Warning Indicator 0 High coolant temperature or always on low oil pressure condition 0 Short to ground on 39 (Fl/W) or open on 31 (W/R) wire a lnoperative Coolant Temperature Sender or Oil Pressure Switch 0 inoperative Engine Warning indicator Module Check for high coolant temperature or low oil pressure condition Check 39 (R/W) wire for short to ground and 31 (W/R) wire for open Disconnect 39 (R/W) wire from Coolant Temperature Sender. if indi- cator remains on, reconnect 39 (R/W) wire to Coolant Temperature Sender. Jumper 31 (W/R) wire from Oil Pressure Switch to ground. If indicator goes off, replace Oil Pressure Switch. if Engine Warning indicator remains on after above tests are done, replace Engine Warning indicator Module
