I know... A perfectionist would have gotten out the old blare cutter to cut these spot welds out. But my way is much faster and less hassle.
first take a 1/4 inch drill bit to the center of every spot weld & go all the way through. Then take a 1/2 inch drill bit and follow behind it but only go as far as you need to. As the 1/2 inch bit takes the material off, you can finally see that you have separated the seem, then move on to the next. I'd say 9 out of 10 times this method works, without having to drill out the spot weld with a 1/2 inch drill bit.
