A transmission jack is a HUGE HUGE plus in this project.  I don't recommend doing it without one.  Lowering the transmission and transfer case is one thing, but putting them back up, getting them lined up, and bolting them in place is not something I'd want to do while lifting them with my own strength.

This one was $75 at harbor freight and saved me a massive amount of heartache.

Granted, it caused me a lot of headache because those corners on it were all sharp, and I cut my head open on it to the point I almost needed stitches.  I know it's only $75, but they could have taken the extra time to round the corners...
