These early bulbs are type 3175 (31mm / 1.25" long) and the holder will not accomodate common LED conversion bulbs due to their larger diameter. This style ('94-96) is easy to ID by its chromed metal bulb retainer caps, flat metal terminals, and lack of chrome on the outside of the reflectors. The last style ('99-02) has stamped Aluminum reflectors which get so hot they melt the holders to the frames, making the bulbs impossible to remove. The best style ('96-98 ) has plastic reflectors with chrome outside, and the same film circuit connector & bulbs (#579) as the later Aluminum.
