Working this heavy Aluminum sheet is almost like working plastic, but it'll never crack or deteriorate, and it can be grounded if necessary to make wiring the new switches easier.  After all the new switches/lights are placed, I'll make it look nice either by building a new plate, or by adding a sheet of black plastic.
