The 2006 Ford Crown Victoria adopted the 4R75E four-speed automatic, a development of the 4R70W. The 4.6L SOHC modular V8 made 224 horsepower with single exhaust and 239 horsepower with the dual-exhaust high-output tune, with the Police Interceptor at 250 horsepower. The car continued on the 2003 boxed, partly hydroformed frame with rack-and-pinion steering on the Panther platform.
