stud5.jpg These stubby bolts are identical (other than length) to those used to hold the step brackets to the body; they're common on Fords; and they're long enough for my bracket design.  The hole in the fiberglass will prevent the bolt tip from cracking the step or pushing it off the plate.  The tread pad (F2TZ16490A) will cover it anyway.  And to attach the step to an original tube bracket, a longer bolt can be used.

Drill the step plate 17/64" before tapping M8x1.25 .
