Aftermarket cab steps were available from Deflecta-Shield, Lund, and possibly others; but their support structure was weaker than Ford's (even when NOT supporting the whole weight of the truck). Note that this design doesn't hang as low as Ford's, and has a shallower toe pocket. The tread is a soft rubber sheet glued to the step.
