Ford Taurus / Sable Power Steering Pump & Gear Specifications - VAPS, SHO

This document is a power steering specifications reference sheet for the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable, covering vehicles with VAPS (Variable Assist Power Steering). It lists static steering wheel turning effort (2.27 kg / 5.0 lb for Taurus/Sable with VAPS) and detailed power steering pump specifications for three engines: the 3.0L (2V) with HBC-LC pump, the 3.0L (4V) with HBD-BM pump, and the 3.4L (4V) with ZUA pump. For each pump it gives minimum flow at 5100 kPa (740 psi), minimum and maximum relief pressures (e.g., 8960 kPa / 1300 psi minimum for the 3.0L engines; 10135 kPa / 1470 psi for the 3.4L), and maximum free flow at 1500 rpm.
