The 1969 Mercury Marquis expanded from a single hardtop into Mercury's flagship full-size series, replacing the Park Lane atop an all-new 124-inch-wheelbase body. Every Marquis carried a 429 cu in V8, with the standard 2-barrel version rated at 320 hp gross. Concealed headlamps and the new Marquis Brougham trim separated it from the lower-priced Monterey line.
