The 2001 Nissan Maxima was the second year of the fifth-generation A33 sedan, powered by a 222-horsepower VQ30DE 3.0-liter V6. Nissan marked two decades of the nameplate with a 20th Anniversary Edition, which used a freer-flowing exhaust with a larger center pipe and muffler to raise output to 227 horsepower. GXE, SE, and GLE trims continued, with a 5-speed manual on the SE.
