The 1974 Pontiac Firebird took the second generation's first major facelift, with a sloped shovel nose front end and full width slotted taillamps that met the new 5 mph bumper rules. It was the final year for the Super Duty 455, still rated 290 hp net, with 943 Trans Ams and 58 Formulas so equipped.
