The 1978 Ford F-250 received the largest restyle of the generation, with a single-piece grille and rectangular headlamps on the upper trims while base trims kept round headlamps; the Ranger Lariat joined as the top trim. The 300 inline-six, the 302 and 351 Windsor, the 351M and 400, and the 460 carried over. The 1978 F-250 4x4 used a solid front axle.
