A 1966 Jeep CJ5 could be ordered with the Buick-designed 225 cubic inch Dauntless V6, a 155 hp gross option that roughly doubled the standard F-head four's 75 hp gross. Kaiser Jeep added the V6 during 1965, and it transformed the CJ5's road and trail performance. Axles in this period moved to a Dana 27 front with the Dana 44 rear, and the Spicer 18 transfer case carried a 2.46:1 low range.
