The 1977 Jeep CJ5 added power front disc brakes to the option list, the first factory disc brakes offered on a CJ. Midyear, AMC launched the Golden Eagle package with its hood decal treatment and 304 V8. The drivetrain otherwise carried over: 232 six standard, 258 six and 304 V8 optional (net-rated), Dana 30 front axle, AMC Model 20 rear, and Dana 20 transfer case.
