AMC kept the 1974 Jeep CJ5 mechanically steady, with the 232 six standard and the 258 six or 304 V8 optional (net-rated) on the 84 inch wheelbase set in 1972. The Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear axle pairing continued, in its next-to-last year before the AMC Model 20 rear arrived with the 1976 chassis revisions. The Renegade package carried on as the top trim.
