Jeep CJ5
1972 Jeep CJ5 Specs & Photos
For 1972 the Jeep CJ5 switched to AMC power: a standard 232 cubic inch six (100 hp net), optional 258 six (110 hp net), and optional 304 V8 (150 hp net), all in the new SAE net ratings. Fitting the longer engines stretched the wheelbase 3 inches to 84 and the front clip about 5 inches. The chassis was upgraded to match, with an open-knuckle Dana 30 front axle and a Dana 20 transfer case (2.03:1 low) replacing the Dana 27 and Spicer 18, while the Dana 44 rear carried on.
The 1972 Jeep CJ5 is part of the CJ-5 generation (1955-1983). See the full Jeep CJ5 1955-1983 registry →
