2000 Ford Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis TC Switch Removal & Installation

This document is a screenshot from a Ford Technical Service Publications Workshop Manual (electronic format) showing the removal and installation procedure for the Transmission Control (TC) Switch on a 2000 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis. It comes from Group 3: Powertrain, Section 307-05: Automatic Transaxle/Transmission External Controls, under Removal and Installation. The removal procedure is brief: remove the transmission control (TC) switch by first removing the TC switch cover (callout 1) and then removing the TC switch itself (callout 2). Installation is simply the reverse of the removal procedure. An exploded-view illustration (figure D17087-A) shows the TC switch and its cover being separated from the end of the steering column shift lever handle, with numbered callouts corresponding to the two removal sub-steps. The TC switch is the overdrive on/off button located at the tip of the column shifter. No torque specifications, part numbers, wire colors, or special tools are listed in the procedure. The window footer shows the file reference SYA75009.GUI and a viewing date of 9-12-2005. This page confirms the switch is serviceable without disassembling the steering column, only the cover and switch need to be removed from the shift handle.
