Vortech Supercharger Install 8.2 Main Bracket/Drive Belt - 2001-2004 Models

A physical accessory drive belt tensioner (with cast Ford-style marking beginning XR3E-6) is lying on the page, obscuring some middle steps. The visible instructions cover removing three timing cover bolts, the fixed idler pulley bolt (replacing the factory idler with the supplied Vortech composite idler), and the passenger's side alternator mounting bolt; removing the A/C line silencer; installing a supplied M8 x 1.25 stud into the alternator mount; routing the belt around all pulleys including the supercharger pulley except the water pump; using channel locks to release belt tension; routing the oil feed hose next to the drain hose with tie wraps; and reinstalling the factory coolant reservoir. An IMPORTANT box warns that overloading/bending the tensioner during belt installation can cause belt throwing/shredding at high speeds. Figure 8.2-b (Mach 1 Only) shows a tensioner with a ground section to clear the mounting bracket, and a second photo shows replacing a factory bolt/stud with a supplied 8mm x 65mm Allen head bolt and installing the Vortech composite idler.
