1964 John Willment Coupe JWC427-1 Museum Placard - Miller Motorsports Park

This document is a photograph of a museum placard from Miller Motorsports Park describing the 1964 John Willment Coupe, chassis JWC427-1, owned by Larry H. Miller. It explains that John Willment was an English car builder and racer known for building successful race cars, including Cobras, campaigned in Europe during the 1960s. After Carroll Shelby's success with the Daytona Coupe, Willment purchased a pair of coupe bodies from Shelby, who had stopped producing the Daytona body in favor of the GT40 program but offered tooling and personnel to assist. Willment's company produced two coupes, one with a 289 cu.in. engine and one intended for a 427 cu.in. engine, known as the "Super Coupe." The car on display at the museum is the never-completed body/chassis of the Super Coupe, unchanged since it left Willment's shop; its purpose-built engine was displayed alongside but never installed. The 289 Willment Coupe was completed, raced successfully in the mid-1960s with many podium finishes, and is also owned by Larry Miller, displayed at the Shelby American Collection Museum in Boulder, Colorado.
