1997 Ford F-150 Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) System Features & Components

This page (6-24) from the 1997 Ford F-150 New Model Training manual, in the Electrical Systems section, describes the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) system, which replaces the earlier remote keyless entry (RKE) and total anti-theft system (TATS). It lists the RAP features: remote entry with transmitter (panic button that deactivates a triggered alarm — a new function — unlocking the driver door only or all doors, locking all doors, arming/disarming the anti-theft system, activating the panic alarm, and activating illuminated entry) and anti-theft functions (sensing ignition key lock tampering, a continually flashing LED warning in the cluster when armed, sensing invalid vehicle entry and door-ajar conditions, triggering the horn, parking and headlamps, and disabling the starter circuit until the system is disarmed). It also covers autolock and relock on automatic-transmission vehicles.
