This document details how to adjust and fold vehicle seats, including captain's chairs and rear flip fold seats.
BEFORE DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE WARNING Rear seat passengers should not lean on the front seatback while vehicle is in motion. A seatback which is folded forward even a small degree may not lock properly in the event of a sudden stop or collision. Do not allow packages or other objects to interfere with the normal position of the seatback or seatback release. CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS (OPTIONAL) The front passenger seat does not adjust fore and aft, but it can be tilted forward for access to the rear area. Grasp the release lever on the lower right side of the seat and move it rearward in a continuous motion. The seat "pops up" and the seatback folds forward at the same time. To return the seat to an upright position, slam the seat assembly against the base- mounted striker so as to compress the "pop up" spring and properly engage the latch and striker. Otherwise, it will automatically "pop up." WARNING The passenger seat release lever is not a seatback recliner control. If the seat release lever is used while the seat is occupied, the seat hold-down latch will be released, allowing the passenger seat to "pop up" suddenly when weight is removed. Keep area near latch and behind seat free of foreign objects that would prevent seat from latching properly. Insure that seat is latched before using. 52 BEFORE DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE TO ADJUST RECLINING SEATBACK The driver and passenger seatbacks recline approximately 40 degrees reanNard from full upright seating position. The recliner handle is located on the left side of the seat cushion. To adjust the seatback to the reclining position, the occupant should lift and hold the recliner handle, leaning against the seatback and releasing the handle to lock when desired position is reached. Unlocking (lift~up) and holding the recliner handle while leaning forward returns the seatback to an upright position. WARNING To minimize the risk of personal iniury in the event of a collision or a sudden stop, both the driver's and passenger's reclining seatbacks must always be in the upright position a maximum of two notches from the most upright position while the vehicle is in motion. The protection provided by the lap and shoulder belts is significantly reduced when the seatback is not in the upright position. ADJUSTING ARMRESTS The armrests may be raised or lowered at any time. Rear Flip Fold Seat T0 FOLD THE SEAT FORWARD Lift the seatback latch handle (located at the lower rear right hand side of the seat) to unlock the seatback. Fold the seatback over the seat cushion until it is locked in place by the auxiliary seatback latch. The seat latch handle (located 53
