1999 Volkswagen Passat Specs & Photos
The 1999 Volkswagen Passat was the second year of the B5 generation, which moved the car onto the longitudinal-engine platform shared with the Audi A4 and cut the sedan's drag coefficient to 0.27. Engine choices were a 150 horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four with five valves per cylinder and a 190 horsepower 2.8-liter 30-valve V6, each available with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed Tiptronic automatic. GLS and GLX trims spanned sedan and wagon body styles.
