Chevrolet Nova
1969 Chevrolet Nova Specs & Photos
The 1969 Chevrolet Nova dropped the Chevy II name entirely, the first year the compact was badged simply as Nova. Engines ran from a 153-cubic-inch four and 230- and 250-cubic-inch sixes up to the SS 396 with the 350-horsepower L34 and 375-horsepower L78 big-blocks, all ratings gross. Yenko Chevrolet also built a small run of 427-powered Novas in 1969, swapping in the big engine at the dealership after Chevrolet declined to install it on the assembly line.
