The 1973 Chevrolet Nova received a substantial facelift within the third generation, with a new nose built around the federal 5-mph front bumper standard and a hatchback body style, the first in the Nova line. A Nova Custom series joined the standard car. Engines were net-rated by 1973, from the 100-horsepower 250 six up to a four-barrel 350 V8 at 175 horsepower net, and the SS continued as an appearance and handling package.
