The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD was the final year for the LML Duramax, the 6.6-liter turbodiesel rated at 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet since 2011, before the all-new L5P replaced it for 2017. The standard engine remained the 6.0-liter Vortec L96 V8 at 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet backed by a six-speed automatic, with the Allison 1000 six-speed behind the diesel. Trim levels ran WT, LT, LTZ, and High Country, and the updated MyLink system added Apple CarPlay compatibility for 2016, with Android Auto support following during the model year.
