1966 Ford Fairlane Rear Leaf Spring & Shock Absorber Exploded Parts Diagram

This document is a scanned exploded parts diagram (Figure 18) from a Ford service/parts manual showing a typical rear leaf spring and shock absorber assembly. It illustrates how the rear spring (5556) mounts to the frame via a front hanger with inboard and outboard bushings and a spring hanger mounting bolt, and at the rear via a rear shackle assembly (5776) with shackle bar (5622) and inboard/outboard shackle bushings (5791). The axle attachment stack is shown with spring clips (U-bolts, 5705), insulator retainer (5736), upper and lower insulators (5732, both circled in red by the uploader), and a spring clip plate (5798-99) noted for station wagon and Ranchero models only. Additional model-specific parts include a bracket (5610) for station wagon and Ranchero, and heavy-duty insulator plates (5A584) for H.D. station wagon and Ranchero. Sedan-only parts (clamp and insulator) are shown in a separate inset. The shock absorber (18000) with bushings (500939), washers (18041), and nut is also detailed.
