Welder Electrical Service Guide – Fuse Ratings, Wire Sizes (200-575V, 2008 NEC)

This document is Section 3-13, "Electrical Service Guide," from a welding power source manual (not an automotive fuse box chart). It provides branch-circuit electrical service requirements for connecting the welder to 60 Hz single-phase or three-phase power at 200, 230, 460, or 575 volts. For each voltage/phase combination the table lists: input amperes at rated output (ranging from 69 A at 200 V single phase down to 12 A at 575 V three phase), maximum recommended time-delay fuse ratings (10–80 A), maximum normal-operating fuse ratings (15–100 A), minimum input conductor size in AWG (6–14 AWG), maximum recommended input conductor length in feet/meters (86–229 ft), and minimum grounding conductor size in AWG (8–14 AWG). Footnotes explain that circuit breakers may substitute for fuses if time-current curves are comparable, that time-delay fuses are UL class RK5 per UL 248, that normal-operating fuses are UL class K5 (up to 60 A) or class H (65 A and above), and that conductor sizing follows NEC Table 310.16 (with NEC Table 400.5(A) for flexible cords). The reference standard is the 2008 National Electrical Code including article 630. A notice states the unit is either a 200/230/460 VAC or 460/575 VAC input model and directs users to verify the rating label against site voltage.
