Fabbed bracket to Ranchero spindle and cut down Ranchero hub note the wheel studs' shoulder protruding from hub face. You can see in pic where I had to clearance the brake shield and its mounting boss to accept Crown Vic caliper assembly. Ranchero caliper on left. The hub is made by cutting rotor off and having a machine shop turn down the diameter of the hub to fit inside of Crown Vic rotor hat. The rotor's face is now 5/16" further out which pushes the wheel/tire out as well, but my 20x8.5 fronts don't have a problem fitting or turning(lots of room)

Crown Vic Front Brake Assembly to Ranchero Spi.JPG | Hits: 1285 | Size: 92.75 KB | Posted on: 8/20/10 | Link to this image
This shows the Crown Vic front brake assembly and how it mounts and looks on Ranchero. This is as close to vertical the caliper can mount, bleeder is in correct location. I just need to finalize brake hose length or change front hard lines to accept OEM Crown Vic hoses. Ranchero is 7/16x24 whereas the CV hoses are 10mm. Finally found a stock type front brake hose for replacement purposes. A front brake hose from a '98 Ford F150 works well, still has metric female inlet but used a metric to SAE adapter(Carquest). The other end has the required banjo for the Crown Vic caliper.

This shows the lower spindles bracket mounting hole and the welded spacer 1/4" additional to 3/8" bracket both were tapped for 1/2"-13 lower bolt. The caliper bracket to spindle bracket bolt can be removed without removing the spindle bracket, it just misses the Ranchero spindle. The bolts used to hold the caliper bracket(black bracket) to spindle are the Ranchero's original bracket bolts. The caliper to spindle bracket(red bracket) bolts, 18mm, are from a donor Crown Vic.

Cut down Ranchero hub to fit inside of Crown Vic rotor "hat", note the wheel stud shoulder that protrudes proud of the hub face, these help with locating the rotor. The vertical portion of the bracket below the upper mounting bolt is ground to fit to spindle, the bracket could be spot welded in this location but not needed. Also shows the upper left hand splash shield mounting location needed to be trimmed to allow Crown Vic caliper assembly to fit

Crown Vic Brake Caliper Assembly 3.JPG | Hits: 1320 | Size: 103.95 KB | Posted on: 8/20/10 | Link to this image
The caliper is offset somewhat on the bracket but once installed the rotor lines up perfectly with the brake pads, about a 1/16" of the rotor is above the pads once installed. New caliper, mounting bracket and associated hardware will be used once the fabricating is done.

A6 compressor bracket 005.JPG | Hits: 954 | Size: 67.98 KB | Posted on: 12/20/11 | Link to this image
These are the two different A6 A/C compressor brackets used on Ford/Lincoln/Mercury full/mid size cars of the 70's. I seen a different bracket used for a '72 Lincoln Contiental("C" style) and a '76 Mercury Grand Marquis("circle" style of A/C mounting bracket). The "C" style bracket also came on the '75 & '76 Thunderbird with the Saginaw/A6 engine bracket plate. The "C" bracket allows the A6 compressor to be mounted about 1/2-3/4" further forward allowing it to miss the driver's side frame/front upper A arm as compared to the full "circle" style of mount. The '75-'76 T-bird frame is set-up just like the 70's vintage Torino, Elite, Cougar, Ranchero, T-birds and the Lincoln Mark series.

Here is a pic of an A6 A/C compressor bracket that came from a '72 Lincoln Continental or also used on a '75-'76 Thunderbird both with the Saginaw PS pump/A6 compressor mounting plate for use with a 460. This "C" style of compressor mount allows the A6 to be mounted further forward on the engine allowing the rear of the compressor to miss the driver's side frame/upper A arm paticularly on the intermediate chassis's of the 70's.

A6 compressor Grand Marquis 001.JPG | Hits: 844 | Size: 62.21 KB | Posted on: 12/20/11 | Link to this image
This set of brackets was removed from '76 Mercury Grand Marquis. This set will also bolt to a 460 and use the Saginaw PS pump with an A6 compressor but it causes the A/C compressor to be mounted further toward the firewall which may cause interference issues when used on a 460 installed in an intermediate chassis IE: Torino, Cougar, Ranchero, Thunderbird, Montego and etc. You cannot use this plate bracket with the "C" style of a/c bracket without major modifications, won't allow compressor belt tightening.

Welds are pretty good, not show quality but I don't own a show car. The welds look black but they are not.

Again welds look very good. I wouldn't hesitate to order another Champion radiator.

'95 Chevy Astro van hydroboost unit with '78 Corvette 1 1/8" 4 wheel disc MC. MC plumbed to 4 whl disc brake proportioning/combination valve. Homemade 3/16" plate attaches hydroboost unit to firewall, used existing brake booster mounting holes if I ever want to revert back to vacuum brakes. MC outlet ports plumbed with #3 stainless flex lines, hydroboost unit uses Aeroquip #1447 port adapter to plumb factory '75 T-bird PS pressure hose from Saginaw PS pump and #1446 port adapter to plumb output from hydroboost to quick ratio steering gear. Used Aeroquip FC300-6 hose and reuseable 90' fittings to build output hose.

If applicatable, you can remove the padded panel from the gauge cluster surround panel by using a pair of pliers and straightening the clips that protrude through the back of the gauge cluster surround, it only takes a quarter turn.

Here I used a clean rag with mineral spirits to remove any protectants like ArmorAll. This also preps the surface by opening up the outer layer of the factory paint to allow the new finish to adhere to the part. I allowed a couple of minutes for the mineral spirits to "flash" off then wiped it clean with another clean rag. You can also use brake cleaner but the brake cleaner is MUCH more aggressive. Denatured alcohol will also work effectively and it leaves no residue.

Installed '96 Ford Windstar dual electric fan housing. Used 2 Derale fan controllers with separate screw-in temperature sending units. One for the smaller/lower temp turn-on fan, the other for the larger/high temp fan. The Windstar fan housing fit very well with minimal grinding/clearancing. Also shows my 130 amp 3G alternator, much better low rpm amperage with additional overall amperage over my large case 1G 100 amp alternator. I have a cooling filter screen in the upper radiator supply hose(where the 4 hose clamps are).

The original Ford Windstar high temp/larger fan motor was replaced with a two speed fan motor from a '96 Lincoln Mark VIII. Had to cut and install white spacers to install the Lincoln fan motor from the fan housing due to the fan's larger size. This set-up really keeps my big block cool. The Windstar dual fan housing fits much better than the Lincoln Mark VIII's single fan housing into an intermediate with a 460 and all it's accessories.

70 amp SD relays from Chrysler auto, uses a clip that mounts both at one time. I used a pair of these as the relays for my Windstar dual electric cooling fans. I used these higher amperage relays instead of the 30 amp relays used on the Derale #16749 adjustable fan controllers. The Derale is actually just used as a trigger for the fans, these relays do all the carrying of heavy electrical load the fans require.
