The 1985 Ford Ranger was the final model year for the 2.8 Cologne V6 in the first-generation compact pickup. For 1985 the five-speed manual became the standard transmission. The 1985 Ranger continued with the 2.0 and 2.3 Lima four-cylinders, and the 4x4 retained the Twin-Traction-Beam front suspension on a Dana 28 front axle.
