The 1989 Ford Ranger received the first-generation facelift, with revised front sheetmetal and updated grille and headlamp treatment along with interior updates. The engine range was the 2.3 Lima four-cylinder, the 2.9 Cologne V6, and the 3.0 Vulcan V6. The 1989 Ranger 4x4 retained the Twin-Traction-Beam front suspension on a Dana 28 front axle, ahead of the 4.0 V6 and Dana 35 changes for 1990.
