The 1979 Honda Accord added a four-door sedan to a US lineup that had consisted only of the three-door hatchback since 1976. The CVCC four grew from 1.6 to 1.8 liters for 1979, rated at 72 horsepower. Transmissions were a five-speed manual or the two-speed Hondamatic semi-automatic, and all cars were built in Japan.
