This document is a block diagram (schematic) of a Ford Distributorless Ignition System (DIS). It shows how the camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor, each powered by VBAT and grounded through IGN GND, feed CID and PIP signals to the DIS module. The DIS module (with labeled pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12) receives VBAT power (pins 1/2), ignition ground (pin 7), the PIP signal (pin 4), and the SPOUT signal from the EEC-IV processor (pin 5). It outputs COIL 1 (pin 8), COIL 2 (pin 11), and COIL 3 (pin 9) drive signals to a three-coil coil pack, and sends the IDM signal (pin 12) to the EEC-IV processor. The EEC-IV processor pins shown are 4 (IDM), 36 (SPOUT), 24 (CID), 56 (PIP), and 16 (IGN GND). The coil pack fires six spark plugs in paired outputs, with plug polarity marked: plugs 1(+)/5(−), 3(+)/4(−), and 2(+)/6(−).
