1979 Ford LTD Specs & Photos

The 1979 Ford LTD moved to the all-new Panther platform, cutting the wheelbase to 114.3 inches and trimming roughly 700 pounds and about 15 inches of length versus 1978 while preserving six-passenger seating. The standard engine was the 302 cubic inch 5.0 liter V8 rated 129 horsepower, with a 351 Windsor optional. Two-door and four-door sedans and wagons were offered in LTD and LTD Landau trim, and the same body-on-frame architecture carried Ford's full-size cars through 2011.
