Nissan Micra Cylinder Head Removal & Disassembly - Bolt Sequence (EM-10)

The Removal section instructs: (1) remove the timing belt, cautioning that after removal the crankshaft and camshaft must not be rotated separately to prevent contact between pistons and valves; (2) remove the oil pump idler gear (illustrated in figure SEM292); and (3) remove the cylinder head, loosening the head bolts in two or three steps following a numbered 10-bolt sequence diagram (SEM980). If the head is difficult to separate, the manual advises prying with a screwdriver between the head salience and the block (SEM038A). The Disassembly section instructs: (1) remove the thermostat housing, with an illustration (SEM030B) labeling the distributor, water outlet, fuel pump, and cylinder head bolt locations; (2) remove the camshaft pulley using special tool KV10109900 (SEM034B); and (3) remove the bolt stopper (SEM993).
