Diassembly (Cont'd) 1. Remove tierod inner socket. - Be ureful not to damage rack. - Clamp only the rack teeth. ssTsna ssTsaaA 3. Set in neutral position and put matching mark on gear housing. Remove pinion assembly. MANUAL STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE R22T Inspection RACK Thoroughly examine rack gear, H rack gear is damaged, cracked or worn, replace. PINION ASSEMBLY i. Thoroughly examine pinion gear. If pinion gear is damaged, cracked or worn, replace. 2. Inspect bearings to see that they roll freely and are free from cracked, pitted, or worn balls, rollers and races. Replace if necessary. TIEROD OUTER SOCKET AND INNER SOCKET 0 Check ball joint for swinging force (Measured at point). Tie-rod outer ball joint: 2.26 - 68.65 N (0.23 - 7 kg, 0.51 - 15.44 lb) Tie-red inner ball joint: 1.18 - 60.80 N (0.12 ~ 6.2 kg, 0.26 - 13.67 lb) 5 ? 3&1!
