Nissan R22T Manual Steering Gear & Linkage Exploded Diagram, Torque Specs - ST-6

The top of the page is an exploded parts diagram of the rack-and-pinion steering gear showing components including the steering gear mounting clamp, rubber mounting, pinion assembly (marked do-not-disassemble), rack bushing, gear housing, rack, pin, retainer, retainer spring, adjusting screw and its lock nut, oil seal, snap ring cap, snap ring, tie-rod inner and outer sockets (do-not-disassemble), boots, boot clamps and tie-rod lock nut. Torque specifications are given in N·m (kg-m, ft-lb): mounting clamp bolts 26-36 (2.7-3.7, 20-27); retainer adjusting screw lock nut 39-49 (4-5, 29-36); tie-rod inner socket 78-98 (8.0-10.0, 58-72); tie-rod outer socket 29-39 (3.0-4.0, 22-29); tie-rod lock nut 37-46 (3.8-4.7, 27-34). Starred items must always be replaced when disassembled. The Removal and Installation section instructs detaching tie-rod ball studs from knuckle arms using tool HT72520000 (J25730-A) and checking wheel alignment (section MA) after installation. The Disassembly section instructs measuring pinion rotating torque before disassembly (tools ST3127S000/J25765-A and KV48101100/J26364) and using soft jaws because the aluminum housing is fragile.
