1996 Mercury Grand Marquis Ground Wiring Diagram G201 S204 S206 - Grounds 10-6
Ground-circuit wiring diagram (section 10-6) showing ground distribution to components with connector/splice legend.
This document is a two-part ground distribution wiring diagram (section 10-6 "Grounds") from a Ford/Mercury factory electrical manual, uploaded for a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. All circuits are noted as 57 BK (black) unless otherwise noted. The upper-left diagram shows ground G201 and splices S206, S200 and S229 serving the driver's door module, driver's seat module (memory seats only via S229), air bag diagnostic monitor, blend door actuator (with EATC/without-EATC wire variants 600 DB and 208 GY), lighting control module (LCM), auxiliary power, left and right I/P courtesy lamps, headlamp switch assembly, and the data link connector (DLC). A courtesy lamp disable connector (C200M/C200F) is shown for police option vehicles only. The lower-right diagram shows splice S204 grounding the clock, A/C-heater mode switch illumination, EATC module, front control unit, rear window defrost control, LCM, I/P cigar lighter and its lamp, instrument cluster (with analog cluster note), and day/night sensor/amplifier, joining to S206. Connector numbers (C519, C303, C277, C276, C282, C2026, C2006–C2008, C262, C2021, C2003, C2012, C228, C257, C2000, C2029, C2011, C2013, C250, C286, C2005F/M, C211F/M, C203M/F, C245F) and manual page references are given for each component, allowing a reader to trace interior ground circuits.

Frequently asked questions
- What ground splice serves the instrument cluster and clock?
- Splice S204, which grounds the clock (C2003), instrument cluster (C250, pin 13), EATC module, front control unit, rear window defrost control, LCM, cigar lighter and lamp, and day/night sensor/amplifier, then routes to S206.
- What wire color are the ground circuits in this diagram?
- All circuits are 57 BK (black) unless otherwise noted; the blend door actuator uses 600 DB (with EATC) or 208 GY (without EATC).
- What is the courtesy lamp disable connector for?
- Connector C200M/C200F is a courtesy lamp disable connector used for the police option only, located in the ground path near splice S200.
- Which components ground through G201/S206?
- The driver's door module, driver's seat module (via S229, memory seats only), air bag diagnostic monitor, blend door actuator, lighting control module, auxiliary power, left/right I/P courtesy lamps, headlamp switch assembly, and data link connector (DLC).
- What connector joins the data link connector (DLC) to ground?
- The DLC (page 58-1, pin 4) grounds through connector C2021 to splice S200.
