1988 Ford F-250 Diesel Charge/Power Distribution Wiring Diagram - EVTM Page 21
Diesel charge/power-distribution schematic showing alternator output to splice S220, charge indicator lamp, main light switch, headlamps and courtesy/dome lamp circuits.
This is page 21 of the Ford Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM) covering the Charge/Power Distribution circuit for the diesel engine. The wiring diagram shows power distribution circuits 37 (Yellow) and 38 (Black/Orange) feeding through splice S220 to the charge indicator lamp, which is part of the instrument cluster, via circuit 904 (Light Green/Red) through connectors C280, C100, and C208B, with circuit 16 (Red/Light Green) on the other side of the lamp. The diagram continues on page 22. It also details the main light switch and its terminals (B, A, DN, D1, H, R, IGN, D2 at connector C701), fed from the fuse panel (page 14) via fuses V (circuit 195 T/W) and C (circuit 54 LG/Y through splice S350), plus circuit 484 BK/PK to the radio (page 106). Outputs include circuit 15 R/Y to headlamps (page 48), 14 BR to exterior lamps (page 50) and "lamps on" warning (page 63), 19 LB/R through fuse D to the fuse panel (page 22), 137 Y/BK from the fuse panel, 54 LG/Y to courtesy/dome cargo lamps (page 63), and 55 BK/PK to courtesy lamps (pages 63-64). Handwritten annotations mark the ignition switch feed.

Frequently asked questions
- What wire circuit feeds the charge indicator lamp on the diesel?
- Circuit 904 (Light Green/Red) runs through connectors C280, C100, and C208B to the charge indicator lamp, which is part of the instrument cluster; circuit 16 (Red/Light Green) exits the lamp at C208B.
- What circuit and wire color goes to the headlamps from the main light switch?
- Circuit 15, Red/Yellow (R/Y), from terminal H of the main light switch; headlamps are covered on page 48.
- Which circuit powers the courtesy/dome cargo lamps?
- Circuit 54, Light Green/Yellow (LG/Y), from fuse C through splice S350 and connector C701, going to the courtesy/dome cargo lamps shown on page 63.
- Where can I find the main light switch terminal details?
- The diagram notes to see page 123 for the main light switch terminals.
- What circuit feeds the exterior lamps?
- Circuit 14, Brown (BR), from terminal R of the main light switch, going to exterior lamps (page 50) and the "lamps on" warning (page 63).
