The 1982 Chevrolet K5 Blazer added the 6.2 liter Detroit Diesel V8 as an option, an engine aimed at fuel economy rather than power. The same model year brought the 700R4 4-speed overdrive automatic to GM light trucks. Gasoline choices remained carbureted small-block V8s, and the NP208 transfer case and removable rear top continued.
