The 1978 Chevrolet K5 Blazer continued the square-body formula of a shortened C/K pickup chassis with a removable rear top. The chain-driven NP203 full-time case behind automatics is a common swap candidate today, with many owners converting to part-time operation or fitting the gear-driven NP205 from manual trucks. GM's corporate 10-bolt front axle, phased in during 1977, had replaced the Dana 44 on 4WD models.
