A reservoir marked "DO NOT REMOVE CUP" does not contain a filter. For a replacement O-ring for the cup, buy a NAPA 3268, Fram CG3862DP, or equivalent filter.

To semi-permanently eliminate the reservoir and use only 1 tank, use these Dorman fuel tubes.

This document is a labeled technical illustration of the early-style Ford dual-function fuel reservoir with integral filter, used on dual-tank fuel systems. The left side shows an exploded view identifying every component: upper housing cap, diaphragm, supply and return shut-off valves, front tank supply and return ports, engine supply and return ports, .5 PSI anti-siphon valve, 20 PSI diverter valve, rear tank return, filter grommet, 20 micron filter, O-ring seal, and the filter and reservoir cup. The right side presents two cutaway flow diagrams. The 'Front Tank Flow' diagram shows fuel routing when drawing from the front tank, with a note explaining that flow to the top of the diaphragm pushes the diaphragm down to close the rear tank supply and return ports; it also identifies the air bleed. The 'Rear Tank Flow' diagram shows the opposite condition, noting that flow to the underside of the diaphragm pushes it up to close the front tank supply and return ports. A reader can learn the internal construction of the reservoir, the function of the diaphragm-operated tank selection, the valve pressure ratings (.5 PSI anti-siphon, 20 PSI diverter), the filter specification (20 micron), and how fuel flow paths change between front and rear tank operation.
