Ford Tripminder Wiring Diagram 5.0L CFI - EVTM Page 77 (LTD Crown Victoria)
Wiring diagram for the 5.0L CFI Tripminder circuit showing fuse panels, ignition power, speed sensor and color-coded wires.
This is page 77 of a Ford Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM) showing the wiring diagram for the Tripminder trip computer as used with the 5.0L CFI engine. The diagram shows three power feeds to the solid-state Tripminder module: B+ power (pin 5) from fuse 8 (15A, hot at all times) via circuit 54 LG/Y through splice S106 (shared with the courtesy lamps, page 70); ignition power (pin 3) from fuse 6 (20A, hot in accessory or run) via circuit 296 W/P through connector C302, splice S772 and connector C1429; and dimmer input (pin 4) from fuse 4 (15A, hot at all times) via circuit 195 T/W through the main light switch (pages 25-26), then circuit 19 LB/R through fuse 13 (5A), splice S504 and connector C1442. Pin 6 (fuel flow input) connects via circuit 305 LB/P H through C1431 to the Electronic Engine Control (page 45). Pin 8 (speed input) uses circuit 150 DG/W through C1430 and C3104 to the speed sensor, with a branch to speed control (page 126). Pin 9 grounds via circuit 57 BK through C1429 and splice S501 to ground G502. Cross-references to instrument illumination (page 65), power distribution (page 27) and grounds (page 5) are included.

Frequently asked questions
- What fuses power the Ford Tripminder module on the 5.0L CFI engine?
- Three fuses feed the module: fuse 8 (15A, hot at all times) supplies B+ power on circuit 54 LG/Y; fuse 6 (20A, hot in accessory or run) supplies ignition power on circuit 296 W/P; and fuse 4 (15A, hot at all times) feeds the dimmer circuit through the main light switch, then through fuse 13 (5A) on circuit 19 LB/R.
- What wire color is the Tripminder speed input?
- The speed input at module pin 8 uses circuit 150, dark green with white stripe (DG/W), running through connectors C1430 and C3104 to the speed sensor, with a branch to speed control (page 126).
- Where does the Tripminder fuel flow input come from?
- Pin 6 (fuel flow input) connects on circuit 305 LB/P H through connector C1431 to the Electronic Engine Control, referenced on page 45.
- How is the Tripminder module grounded?
- Pin 9 grounds through circuit 57 BK via connector C1429 and splice S501 to ground point G502 (see Grounds, page 5).
- What connectors and splices appear in this Tripminder circuit?
- Connectors C302, C200, C1442, C1429, C1431, C1430, C3104; splices S106, S772, S504, S501; and ground G502.
